Learning SkillsThe Learning Skills (LS) program, instituted in 1973, accommodates a select group of students with minimal, diagnosed language and learning difficulties. The LS program at Dunn is one of the only of its kind in a private independent school. It is unique in that it takes place within a rigorous college preparatory curriculum; no academic work is altered for the learning differenced student. Over the years this program has helped learning differenced students to achieve academically while also nurturing social and personal growth. LS students meet individually with their personal teacher for fifty minutes four times per week. In addition, these teachers usually serve as the Advisor to the LS student. Instruction focuses on "managing by profile" and includes devising personalized strategies for coping with and compensating for the students' learning disabilities.
