Health Services Office

Dunn's Health Services Office (HSO) has an experienced staff that supports the health and well-being of students and triages medical concerns and illnesses.

The HSO is located on the upper campus, convenient to the center of student life. Under the leadership of the Director of Health Services, an experienced staff is available to triage medical concerns and illnesses.  Health office staff — as well as faculty and staff — are certified in American Red Cross CPR and First Aid.

We encourage students to take an active part in their own well-being and health care through preventive measures such as flu vaccinations, yearly physicals, and current immunizations. We are always available to talk to an individual or group about health concerns, and we provide  workshops and printed materials for the student body.

Students can receive over-the-counter and prescribed medications as approved by their licensed health care provider and parent. The office utilizes an electronic health record to maintain student medical and immunization records which is also accessible to parents.

Should the need for emergency care arise, the Santa Ynez Valley Cottage Hospital (located in Solvang) is just minutes from campus.  We have a wonderful working relationship with pediatricians and a variety of specialists in the area. In concert with our Director of Counseling Services, we are also able to schedule appointments for psychological counseling with mental health professionals. Members of our office act as liaisons to ensure communication between the healthcare provider, students, parents and other members of the professional community.
