In the wake of devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, Dunn School senior Aliyah R. has transformed personal heartbreak into a powerful mission to help others. As a former resident of Pacific Palisades, one of the hardest-hit areas, Aliyah has witnessed the destruction of homes, schools, churches, and businesses that hold profound significance to his community. In response, he co-founded Teens 4 LA, a campaign focused on providing immediate relief and building long-term mental health support for those affected.

A Campaign for Compassion

Partnering with the nonprofit organization Another Awesome Day, Teens 4 LA has already raised over $17,000, a testament to Aliyah’s determination and leadership. The funds are directed toward essential supplies for displaced families and the creation of mental health infrastructure to help communities recover.

"We aim to provide direct relief and build long-term mental health infrastructure for those affected by the LA fires,” Aliyah shared. “All online donations go directly toward getting supplies to those who are displaced, and all donations are tax-deductible."

Aliyah’s efforts have also garnered media attention, including a feature on KEYT News, where he shared the campaign’s mission and impact.

How the Dunn Community Can Help

Aliyah is hosting a donation drive on Dunn’s campus to collect much-needed supplies. Clearly marked donation boxes are located in the CBLC and dormitories for easy drop-off. Suggested items include:

  • Personal Protection Equipment: N95/KN95 masks, gloves
  • Technology: Portable chargers, cables, old devices
  • Clothing and Linens: New socks, shoes, blankets, towels
  • Hygiene Items: Toiletries, cleaning supplies, baby care products
  • Pet Supplies: Bedding, food
  • Food and Water: Bottled water, protein bars, hydration mixes

For those looking to make monetary contributions, donations can be made online at Teens 4 LA Fire Relief.

Additionally, all donations may qualify as tax-deductible contributions through the nonprofit partner, Another Awesome Day. Receipts for tax purposes can be provided upon request.

A Model of Resilience and Leadership

Aliyah’s initiative reflects Dunn’s dedication to fostering socially responsible leaders. By rallying the community around this cause, he demonstrates how empathy and action can drive meaningful change.

Dunn School is immensely proud of Aliyah’s efforts and encourages the community to come together in support of Teens 4 LA. Together, we can make a difference for those in need.
