Recent Dunn Graduate Aliyah R.'s Poise and Purpose Drive Global Impact

When devastating wildfires swept through the Pacific Palisades, a community Aliyah once called home, his personal heartbreak ignited a powerful resolve. Instead of succumbing to despair, he channeled his empathy into action, co-founding Teens4LA, a campaign dedicated to providing immediate relief and building long-term mental health support for those affected. His initial efforts, shared earlier this year, were a testament to his initiative – an initiative that, as Head of School Kalyan Balavan notes, perfectly aligns with Dunn's core mission.

“Dunn School's mission is preparing students for responsible leadership and society,” Kalyan told KEYT News last week. “And Aliyah manifested that while he was here.”

Equipped with the foundational values of integrity and compassion ingrained in his Dunn education, Aliyah stepped far beyond local relief efforts. He embraced innovative fundraising strategies, including creative digital initiatives, that allowed Teens4LA to transcend geographical boundaries. His vision and drive have propelled the campaign to raise more than $50,000 to date, drawing support from a diverse global community and assisting over 18 organizations participating in relief efforts, including the Los Angeles Fire Department and WalkGoodLA.

Recently featured in a local TV news update, Aliyah reflected on the campaign's unexpected trajectory: "I don't think anyone could predict just how far we were able to go. And I think I've definitely been surprised by the amount of donations and the amount of support we've received from the community.”

He was invited to the prestigious Social Innovation Summit 2025, an international conference that convenes leaders across corporate, philanthropic, and government sectors. On this significant stage, Aliyah and Teens4LA were honored with the inaugural Social Innovation Crypto For Good Award, a powerful validation of his pioneering approach. Similarly, Aliyah captivated an audience of over 25,000 attendees at ETHDenver 2025, one of the largest technology conventions globally, sharing how youth-led initiatives can harness innovative digital tools to power disaster resilience. His story and the vital work of Teens4LA also caught the attention of Genzio Media, featuring his insights on a recent podcast. In every instance, Aliyah’s composure and conviction shone through, proving that a leader’s stage can be anywhere their voice is needed.

As Teens4LA transitions into its next phase, Aliyah is focusing on providing lasting mental health infrastructure and wellness support for students. As he shared in the recent news report, “As the world faces more and more challenges today, that means crisis response, but it also means long-term mental health and youth support. So our goal is to build resilient communities and make sure that emerging technologies, which is largely our background, is working in support of that.” This long-term vision culminates in the ambitious Y3K Innovation Summit, set to be hosted at UCLA this fall, September 8-10.
