Live Where You Learn
Living where you learn is a hallmark of boarding schools across the globe. Dunn School, with its combination of day and boarding students, creates the sort of atmosphere where ALL students can benefit from the programs and activities that we offer seven days a week! We have boarding students from many different countries and states, and faculty come from far and wide as well to live on our beautiful campus in the extraordinary Santa Ynez Valley. That means that our campus is abuzz with cross-cultural learning and personal growth. Day students are welcome on campus for all meals, special events, and student activities — there is always something happening at Dunn!
Dorm Life
We have four dormitories that provide a home away from home for our students. Dedicated faculty and staff live in each dormitory and the vast majority of teachers spend time overseeing study hall during the academic week. Student leaders and members of the school’s administration create programming specifically for the students living in our dormitories. Learning to be independent and self-reliant are two terrific reasons to attend boarding school.
Student Activities
Each weekend (and on special occasions during the week), Dunn School plans and executes a wide variety of activities for student enjoyment. Trips to shop, to local restaurants, to professional sporting events like Los Angeles Dodgers games, to amusement parks, and to many of the naturally beautiful spots on California's Central Coast are just a sampling of the fun that we have with our activities program. Many of these programs are chosen by the students themselves — we have an Activities Committee that helps plan both on-campus and off-campus events. Whether you are a boarding student or a day student, there's always something to do!
Health Services
The Health Services Office provides medical resources that enhance the physical readiness and emotional well-being of our students. Our office — a welcoming space in the center of campus — allows our health professionals to help students with a variety of health services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Guest Speakers
Dunn School augments the regular curriculum with a residential life curriculum. Matters of personal health, safety and development are taught through a variety of dynamic and interactive presentations. Global issues as well as things that matter right down the road can be addressed through our seminars.
